About OR/K ANS
The Oak Ridge/Knoxville ANS Section was established on April 18, 1958. On March 25, 1981, the Oak Ridge/Knoxville Section of the American Nuclear Society was incorporated. OR/K ANS brings together ANS members, students, interns, retirees, nuclear professionals, educators, and community members across East Tennessee and Kentucky through technical programs, networking events, outreach activities, scholarships, and public engagement. OR/K ANS is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization serving nearly 140 counties within Tennessee and Kentucky.
OR/K ANS is part of a long regional history of nuclear science, engineering, education, public service, and innovation centered around Oak Ridge, Knoxville, and the surrounding area.
Our Mission
The main objectives of the American Nuclear Society are the advancement of science and engineering relating to the atomic nucleus, and of allied sciences and arts, and the integration of the scientific disciplines constituting nuclear science and technology.

Our History
The Oak Ridge/Knoxville ANS Section has supported nuclear education, public information, scholarships, technical programs, and ANS activities in the region for decades. The section was chartered in 1957 and incorporated in Tennessee in 1981.
