In Oak Ridge, Tennessee from October 20-24, 2025 the American Museum of Science and Energy (AMSE) is bringing together civic, academic, non-profit, and corporate partners for a week of educational opportunities, workforce and professional development sessions, tours of historic and modern sites at Department of Energy facilities, and many community activities culminating in an all-ages, family-friendly exposition highlighting the latest developments in nuclear technology!

[2025/10/09] ORNL and ANS Teacher Workshops
As part of the local outreach programs, members of OR/K ANS in conjunction with ORNL personnel hosted a teacher's workshop to help K-12 teachers better teach nuclear science to students in the local area.



[2025/10/07] Dinner Meeting with Uchenna Ezibe - Senior Manager, STEM Programs, ANS
The local OR/K ANS chapter hosted Uchenna Ezibe to learn more about ANS Nuclear Outreach Programs and Resources. We also had the opportunity to see the ANS Visualizing Radiation Cloud Chamber. 
[2025/09/19] Career Fair at Emerald Academy
As part of the local OR/K ANS chapter's outreach program. Members from ANS attended a career fair for K-8 students at Emerald Academy in Knoxville, TN. 
[2025/09/18] Networking event with UTK ANS, WINGS, ORK ANS
The OR/K local ANS chapter hosted a networking event/social at Hi Wire brewing on September 19th. We had over 40 attendees with more than half being UTK ANS students. Thanks to everyone for attending. We look forward to another successful year partnering with UTK ANS!
[2025/09/18] Scholarship Awards at UTK PicNuke

[2024/07/02] Dinner Meeting, Talk by Dr. Brandon Wilson
The OR/K local ANS chapter hosted Dr. Brandon Wilson from ORNL, on July 2nd, 2024 at the Carolina Ale House in Knoxville. He gave a talk on nuclear thermal propulsion!



[2024/02/21] AIChE and ANS Joint Talk
The OR/K local ANS chapter hosted the AIChE and Mr. John Gertsen from Y-12. As a Manager of Uranium Mission Transformation and UPF Operators' Representative, he gave a talk on the Y-12 Modernization Overview and Electro-Refining of Uranium.


[2024/02/01] Knoxville Central High School Career Fair
The OR/K local ANS chapter had a table at the Knoxville Central High school career fair to talk to high schoolers about nuclear energy and potential careers in nuclear energy.

[2023/11/30] OR/K Local, UTK student section, WINGS social
The OR/K local ANS chapter, ORNL Women in Nuclear and Global Security, and the UTK ANS student chapter met at Hi-Wire brewery in Knoxville for socializing and pizza.


[2023/11/28] Hailey Green - Member of CY 2023
Hailey Green has been awarded a small gift and a plastic gold medal for her significant contributions to the local section, serving as secretary. She restarted monthly talks that were halted during the COVID years, by arranging monthly talks using her expansive network. She has also been invaluable in arranging meetings and organizing the local section. Thanks Hailey!

[2023/11/28] Technical Dinner Meeting: Michael Loughlin
The local section hosted Dr. Michael Loughlin from ORNL, on November 28th, 2023, at the Famous Dave's. He gave a talk on the history of fusion, and his experience in ITER and JET.



[2023/10/23] RDI Technologies
The local section hosted Mr. Andrew Dougherty from RDI Technologies, on October 26th, 2023, at the RDI Technologies office.
The dinner meeting was about Why Motion Amplification Needs to be a Part of Your Vibration Technology Toolkit.
